CHAPTER 30

Looking for revenge, Michael Hayes took on the managerial services of a new, up-and-coming tag team known as the Hardy Boyz, Matt & Jeff. Jay and I had worked with the Hardys a few times and found that we had great chemistry together. The Brood vs. Michael Hayes & the Hardy Boyz would be the beginning of a beautiful wrestling relationship that would help to revitalize tag team wrestling.

Near the beginning of the angle we worked a Six-Man Tag Team Elimination match on an episode of Sunday Night Heat. During the match I took a slingshot DDT on the floor from Matt Hardy. We came down with a lot of force with my head breaking our fall. I was more or less knocked out. Matt rolled me in the ring and I managed to slur to Jeff, “pin me.” I rolled out of the ring, and that was it. I woke up on a stretcher in a neck collar, felt my chipped teeth with my tongue, and was told that I had probably gotten a stinger. Basically a compression of the disc that causes a burning sensation down your neck. Not too much fun, but better than a broken neck.
